Mentor FAQ

Q: Who can be a mentor?
A: Anyone aged 18+ in the LGBTQ community who feels they have sufficient life experience to mentor

Q: What type of person will I be mentoring?
A: Our mentees are all aged 18+, part of the LGBTQ community or questioning, and interested in life mentorship

Q: Does the program involve in-person or online mentorship?
A: The program is designed for online mentorship. Your mentee may not be located in the same area as you.

Q: How will I communicate with my mentee?
A: We leave that up to you and your mentee. Examples of potential communication methods include email, texting, Reddit, Discord and more.

Q: What types of things will I discuss with my mentee?
A: It depends on what your mentee would like to discuss. Examples include questioning sexual orientation or gender identity, coming out, relationships, social matters, career matters, or just life in general. 

Q: Do I need any special qualifications to participate?
A: No. We make it clear to our mentees that the mentors are not trained professionals.

Q: How much of a time requirement is being a mentor?
A: It depends on the mentee, but we ask that you be able to devote 30 minutes per week to the program.

Q: Can I have multiple mentees?
A: Absolutely!
